Based on our efforts, we have been recognized as one of the best places to work by both Newsweek and US News & World report.The Payroll GL Specialist is responsible for assisting with all payroll accounting related items with regards to payroll to ensure accurate and timely funding of payroll and payroll taxes for all associates. This role is responsible for posting payroll journal entries and the reconciliation of the bank and GL accounts. Works with dealership personnel and the corporate accounting team to validate that payroll information is correct and posted properly. Audits various payroll changes and system controls to ensure the payroll department is in compliance with company policy and to certify all data and processing is compliant with key controls.Duties/Responsibilities • Assists with Escheat checks to send to Tax • Posts payroll journal entries/Reversing monthly payroll accrual • Maintains GL Rule setups in MDS with direction from Corporate Accounting • Reconciles bank and GL Balance Sheet accounts throughout the month • Reviews Employee Changes semi-monthly to verify all changes are supported with proper documentation • Audits pay plans for accuracy and completeness • Reviews and processes payroll GLs for each Platform including the corporate office. • Assists with monthly reporting to Corp Finance Department through reconciliations. • Works with the Controllers with any GL issues, changes, or concerns. • Backup to send NACHA and Wires to fund payroll • Backup to initiate stop payments and reversals through bank • Maintains a solid understanding of general ledger rules and payroll accounting. • Follows payroll accounting standards. • Performs other related duties to benefit the mission/vision of the organizationEducation & Experience • Keen attention to detail • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Excellent interpersonal skills • Ability to communicate audit results clearly and concisely to Department Head • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language • At least 5 years in an Accounting rolePay and Recognition: • Weekly pay • Paid holidays & paid time off • Deferred Holiday Pay Match • Paid training • Stock Awards (select management and front-line team member’s eligible)Insurance / Retirement: • Insurance: medical, vision, dental, accident, critical illness and hospital indemnity plans • Up to 12 weeks paid pregnancy leave (disability leave) • Paid Parental Leave • Health savings • Flex spending accounts (tax free) • Short-term and Long-term disability plans • Life Insurance (Whole Life and Term) • 401k with company matchLearning, Tuition Assistance and Career Development: • Digital career path tool to assist with career development • Continuous training through Asbury's Internal Learning Management SystemProfessional growth and development opportunities Additional advantages: • Student loan relief resources • Employee assistance program • Employee discounts on parts and service repairs • Scholarship awards • Opportunities to join our community service initiatives, which includes paid volunteer hours • Aggressive Employee referral program with bonus opportunitiesINDOTHERAsbury Automotive Group is an equal opportunity employer.
